Bloq.it powers Dropp's smart locker expansion in Iceland

Bloq.it has partnered with Dropp, Iceland's out-of-home delivery operator, to build the country's largest smart locker network. The rollout has driven more than 25,000 parcel transactions in its first six months of operation.

  • Dropp deploys Bloq.it's NEXT lockers and white-label solution to expand parcel-access across Iceland.
  • Dropp has deployed 10 grid-powered NEXT lockers across supermarkets, PUDO locations, and petrol stations in Iceland, with a second wave of deployments already in preparation.
  • The rollout has driven more than 25,000 parcel transactions in its first six months of operation
  • Dropp is the first operator globally to implement Bloq.it's white-label solution, running the full locker experience under its own brand with no custom code or technical development required.
  • The partnership was built on Bloq.it's API, robust enough to integrate cleanly with Dropp's proprietary internal systems.

LISBON, Portugal (2 September 2026) – Bloq.it, the smart locker company providing end-to-end services for out-of-home delivery and e-commerce businesses, has partnered with Dropp, Iceland's out-of-home delivery operator, to build the country's largest smart locker network.

Dropp already runs a highly efficient logistics operation, with 90% of its parcel volume moving through pick-up, drop-off (PUDO) locations. As the company set out to expand into smart lockers, it wasn't looking for a shortcut: its operational maturity meant it needed a partner capable of integrating cleanly with the systems it had already built. Bloq.it and Dropp's relationship dates back to Drop’s first explorations of what smart lockers could mean for the Icelandic market. As that opportunity matured, Dropp returned to Bloq.it to build a full-scope locker network running on Bloq.it hardware and software, delivered entirely under Dropp's own brand.

Paulo Oliveira, Sales Development Representative at Bloq.it, said,

"Bloq.it has become the system enabler for Dropp's next generation out-of-home delivery service. Iceland is such a unique market, things here do not work as they would across 90% of other European countries, and that really does highlight the significance of this project."

The partnership kicked off in September 2025, with the pilot locker arriving in Iceland that November and the first rollout deployed in February 2026. Ten grid-powered NEXT locker units are now live across supermarkets, PUDO locations, and petrol stations - high-traffic, everyday sites chosen to test performance in the conditions that make lockers genuinely useful to consumers. In its first six months, the network has processed more than 25,000 parcel transactions.

A key factor behind Dropp's decision was Bloq.it's API. Dropp runs proprietary, homemade internal systems and needed an integration layer robust and flexible enough to connect without friction. Dropp is also the first operator to deploy Bloq.it's white-label solution, running the full locker experience under its own brand without any custom code or technical development. It's both a vote of confidence in Bloq.it's product quality and an opportunity for both companies to gather real-world performance data that will feed directly into future development.

Hrólfur Andri Tómasson, Co-founder and CEO of Dropp, said,

"For the first locker, since day one the utilization has been more than we expected. When choosing a partner the criteria was simple: a very good API so we could integrate it with our system, a locker that's good looking, and a partner that can be very supportive. Bloq.it was the clear choice."

A second wave of deployments is already in preparation, featuring a broader product mix than the pilot. For Dropp's customers, the impact is straightforward: more collection points closer to home or along their daily commute, available around the clock. Dropp already offsets all transportation emissions and uses electric vehicles for home deliveries, and the locker network extends that commitment further. In a country where personal vehicles remain the norm, shorter and less frequent collection trips mean fewer emissions for consumers, while denser delivery networks let drivers serve more parcels with fewer stops.
